This policy covers the Recover.md marketing website and the Recover.md Windows desktop application. Contact:privacy@recover.md.

Desktop application data

The Windows desktop app is designed to keep Markdown version history on your computer. Monitored Markdown contents and historical versions are stored locally (including under your Windows application data folder). The desktop app is designed to make no network requests of its own; outbound requests are blocked at the session level in the current product design.

Historical note content in the current version is stored in a local database that is not encrypted. Protection depends on your operating-system account and disk encryption.

The desktop application does not require an account and does not sell your Markdown contents. Uninstalling the app may not automatically delete local history; you can remove the application data folder manually if you want history deleted.

Website data

The public website is hosted for marketing and download information. It may process:

• Vercel for hosting and delivery (standard request logs and infrastructure metadata).
• Google Tag Manager / analytics tags you configure in GTM (containerGTM-5L8WFGBJ) for website measurement events such as page views and download clicks. Exact tags depend on your GTM configuration and may include Google Analytics or similar tools.
• Download counter: when configured, Windows download button clicks are recorded in a Google Sheet via a Google Apps Script web app (timestamp and limited request metadata such as user agent / referrer). No email is required for the counter.
• Substack soft gate: thedownload page embeds or links togcampoamor.substack.com. If you subscribe there, Substack (and its processors) handle your email under Substack’s terms and privacy policy. The Recover.md site does not receive your Substack password and does not cryptographically verify that you subscribed.
• Optional waitlist endpoints (if enabled in deployment): email address and related signup metadata stored via Postgres (for example Neon) and confirmation email via Resend, plus optional Cloudflare Turnstile for bot checks.

We do not sell personal information collected through the website.

Social links

The site may link to public profiles such asInstagram. Those platforms process data under their own policies when you visit them.

What we do not do

Recover.md is not a cloud notes product. The desktop app is not designed to upload your vault to create version history.

Third-party names

Mentions of Claude Code, Cursor, Obsidian, VS Code, and similar tools refer to independent products. Recover.md is not affiliated with those providers unless explicitly stated.

We may update this policy as the website or application changes. Material updates will be reflected in the date above.
